Sign up to testify at the Providence Green & Complete Streets Ordinance Public Hearing
Monday, June 7th at 5:30pm on Zoom
There will be a public hearing for the Providence Green and Complete Streets Ordinance in the City Council Ordinance Committee on Monday, June 7th at 5:30pm. Please sign up to provide written or verbal testimony!
It can be as simple as “My name is ____ and I live at _____ and I believe that safe and green streets should be the norm in Providence – not the exception. We all deserve to travel safely no matter how we move, and we need to better protect our children, elderly, and disabled neighbors as well as our precious waterways.”
This bill would require that every time a street is re-constructed or re-paved, it must adhere to Complete Streets design principles that protect the safety of everyone on the road regardless of how they travel, as well as green infrastructure that prevents and mitigates stormwater pollution. This includes all city-owned transportation facilities in the public right-of-way, state-owned roads, and privately constructed streets and parking lots.
Safer streets and cleaner water: win, win!
